Össur Mobility Clinics

Össur Mobility Clinic Event Announcement

We're excited to announce that we are increasing our Mobility Clinic events in 2024. We will be offering a greater number of events throughout the year across Australia and New Zealand. This change brings a more comprehensive experience to amputees and people living with limb difference by allowing greater accessibility to our events.

At Össur, we continuously strive to enhance our engagement in the amputee community, and we are making some positive changes to ensure all those with limb difference around Australia and New Zealand receive even greater value from our Mobility Clinic events. We are excited about the possibilities that our additional Mobility Clinic events bring to the community. By investing in enhanced mobility and fostering a stronger support network, we're confident that together, we can make a substantial difference in the lives of amputees and people living with limb difference.

What's Changing?

Enhanced Clinic Experience

Our commitment to delivering valuable experiences to amputees and people living with limb difference remains strong. We're introducing a refined mobility clinic structure to provide a more personalised experiences and a deeper focus on mobility needs. This will enable us to deliver more diverse and accessible mobility clinics while helping us focus on personal goals more effectively, empowering those within the amputee community to achieve optimal mobility and wellness.

Starting in 2024, we will be launching a new series of Mobility Clinic events across Australia and New Zealand. Our aim is to extend the reach of these valuable clinics to provide ongoing support and education for amputees as well as the healthcare professionals who work closely with them. Attendees will have access to more clinics in more locations around Australia and New Zealand throughout the year. Each clinic will have a different focus, allowing amputees and people living with limb differences to choose the events they’d like to attend, depending on their location, availability, mobility needs, and interests.

Mobility Clinic Attendance Rate

The attendance rate will be introduced in January 2024 for our non-profit Mobility Clinic events. This rate will contribute towards the expansion and enhancement of our clinics, offering improved resources, specialised staff, and tailored solutions, while ensuring that the events remain non-profit. This structure reflects our commitment to providing more Mobility Clinics and positively impacting the lives of amputees and people living with limb difference. The increase of this rate is necessary to meet the growing demand for our services and to help us maintain the quality of our Mobility Clinic experiences. Your contributions enable us to expand our clinic network, ensuring accessibility and benefits for the amputee community.

Using Funding Bodies to pay for Mobility Clinic attendance

There are a range of funding bodies that may be able to contribute towards Mobility Clinic attendance rates, depending on eligibility criteria and specific circumstances. These may include: NDIS, Workcover, Insurance Commission, Private Health Insurance and others across Australia.

Please ask your provider about how you can access funding to contribute toward Mobility Clinic attendance rates. If you plan on attending a Mobility Clinic event in 2024, we recommend you contact your provider as soon as possible.

Australian NDIS Participant Funding

The NDIS is specifically designed to offer support and funding to individuals with disabilities, including amputees, to assist in reaching goals and improving overall quality of life. Self or Plan-Managed participants may be able to access funds in NDIS plans to cover the attendance rates associated with attending a Mobility Clinic.

Participants who are Self or Plan-Managed can review the NDIS website and participant booklets for more information on how to make claims for reimbursements: www.ndis.gov.au/participants/using-your-plan/managing-your-plan

Australian NDIS Participants Funding Categories

For Australian attendees, NDIS plans may encompass various support categorised into Core, Capacity Building and Capital Supports. When it comes to contributing to the costs of a Mobility Clinic, participants may opt to access funds through the following line items:

  • Improved Daily Living – Community Engagement Assistance (15_045_0128_1_3)
  • Improved Social and Community Participation – Innovative Community Participation (09_008_0116_6_3)

NDIS Support Coordination

If Support Coordination is part of your NDIS plan, your Support Coordinator can assist you in identifying the available funding options for attending a Mobility Clinic, and guide you through the process of allocating funds for this purpose.

NDIS Budget Allocation

Each NDIS plan is unique, with allocated amounts for different support categories. It's essential to ensure that the attendance rates associated with the Mobility Clinic fall within the budget designated for relevant supports. Your Plan Manager or Support Coordinator can collaborate with you to determine this.
