Össur Academy will come to your location to provide prosthetic knowledge through hands-on product training and certification opportunities conducted at your clinic by highly trained specialists.
These courses are designed to enhance practical experience aligning and fitting Össur products to optimize the outcomes for uses. Mandatory Continuing Education credits (MCE's) are often available through the Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC) for Certification.
Product courses are conducted at your location, and may be required before a product order can be processed. To request a product course, please explore our offerings below or contact your Össur Sales Representative. Submitting a request does not guarantee or confirm the scheduling of a course.
RHEO KNEE® Course - 4 MCEs
A half-day course providing the necessary information to successfully utilize the third generation of the RHEO KNEE.
Learning Outcomes: This four-hour course will utilize video, multimedia and hands-on experience to obtain a working knowledge in properly selecting and utilizing all of the functions that RHEO KNEE has to offer.

Advanced RHEO KNEE®: Application and Training - 4 MCEs
This training provides greater understanding to the algorithms of the firmware and software within the Rheo Knee. The attendees will be provided education on the Rheo Knee that is more complex and detailed than the traditional Rheo Knee Course. Demonstration, hands on and interactive session for the duration of the course.
Learning Outcomes: The attendees will understand the Rheo Knee to a finer detail of the programming, troubleshooting and interpreting the Össur Logic programming software. They will perform the programming functions, interpret and understand the auto-generated settings to determine the gait dynamics. The attendees will also be educated on and perform the Activity training portion of Össur Logic. Additionally, the attendees will be educated on various training techniques with the patient and Rheo Knee to optimize their gait, ascent/descent activities, improving gait dynamics and providing a more dynamic experience for the patient.

Introduction to PROPRIO FOOT® - 4 MCEs
The PROPRIO FOOT is an updated microprocessor controlled foot from Össur. This course is meant to be an introduction to this foot. The audience will benefit by learning about the features and benefits of this device for their patients.
Learning Outcomes: This course references several pieces of literature that highlight the need for a foot that adapts to terrain while allowing swing phase clearance. The audience will be able to understand the reasons why the PROPRIO FOOT functions the way it does. We will also teach proper alignment of the foot, how to connect to the foot using bluetooth, individual settings and how to access data reporting. Finally we will report on our findings when testing the foot, showing user's improvements in energy cost of walking, improved gait kinematics, and reduced impact on the sound side.

PROPRIO FOOT® Course - 4 MCEs
This Course would provide attendees with the instruction and understanding of the features and benefits of the new Proprio Foot. The new Proprio Foot Course will guide the attendees on the proper set up, programming and understanding of the device and how it differs from the recently discontinued design. A patient model (1 Minimum-unlimited maximum) will be evaluated, fit, aligned, programmed and demonstrate the various features and benefits of the Proprio Foot technology.
Learning Outcomes: Attendees will understand the patient selection, proper application, programming and functionality relative to outcomes their patients can experience with the new Proprio Foot. They will then conduct a hands on fitting to demonstrate their ability of understanding the technology and successfully programming and capturing data from the Proprio Foot via Össur Logic which interfaces with the new Proprio design as it lends to data collection and record keeping.

POWER KNEE® Certification Course - 6 MCEs
By restoring powered knee motion, the POWER KNEE represents a considerable enhancement for transfemoral amputee mobility. To assure competency in all aspects of POWER KNEE fitting and support a 1.5 day training course has been designed.

TT Direct Socket Certification Course Session I - 12 MCEs
The Direct Socket system is an effective, consistent and outcome driven prosthetic system for the Trans-Tibial amputee. Proper use of this socket system provides an effective, repeatable, total contact Trans-Tibial socket. Once trained and experienced, this socket system enables the prosthetist, accompanied by an assistant or technician, to evaluate, fabricate, dynamically align and deliver a complete preparatory or definitive socket. Illustrates an effective patient care model that can be used within a patient care facility and remote facility locations.
Attendees will: learn how to measure and select the correct casting and definitive liner. Successfully Identify Biomechanical/ROM and Muscle anomalies. Designing Interventions & Administering Outcomes for Patients with Lower Limb Amputations - 4.5 MCEs
This course is designed to provide rehabilitation and prosthetic professionals with information on designing pre-prosthetic exercise programs, as well as instruction on standardized prosthetic gait training interventions, and education on appropriate outcome measures for use with lower limb amputees.
Learning Objectives:
- Design an exercise intervention program for patients in the pre-prosthetic phase of amputee rehabilitation.
