Mark resides in Adelaide, where he lives with his wife and 2 daughters. In May 2018, Mark underwent knee replacement surgery, where unfortunately his knee became infected following the procedure. Unable to fight the infection, Mark’s left leg was amputated above the knee a few weeks after his knee replacement surgery.

Mark was first introduced to the RHEO KNEE by his prosthetist and found the RHEO KNEE to be more stable compared to other microprocessor knees he had tried.

"I found the RHEO KNEE to be more stable, its functions are easier to use and smoother to walk in."

The RHEO KNEE allows Mark to do much more than he could compared to his previous hydraulic knee.

"The Össur RHEO KNEE allows me to do more activities than I could with a basic hydraulic knee. I can do squats and deadlifts in the gym. I can even keep it on when I do the exercise bike and rowing machine, which I used to take my leg off for."

Mark has also found going up and down stairs/ramps much better and stable with the RHEO KNEE.

"My family and friends have commented on the appearance of the knee, they all think it’s a very good-looking knee in comparison to some of the other ones. They have also noticed that I walk a lot better and hold my posture better when I walk and are surprised by the level of activity that I can have."
