What is the difference between a Pro Sport and Standard version?

The function of both braces is the same. They both work in the same way and offer the same protection. The only difference is the composition of the Pro Sport version. It is constructed with extra layers of carbon fibre which ensures it is hard-wearing enough to be worn in situations when it may endure high levels of impact, such as in Motocross.

Is there funding available for a CTi brace?

The level of funding is dependant upon any health cover you hold and can be confirmed with your insurance provider. Ask them if you are covered for a rigid ligament support knee brace. Funding for CTi braces may also be provided to eligible candidates through workers compensation, transport accident, Veteran’s affairs and other government funding schemes. Contact us for further details.

What are the main differences between Custom and Off-The-Shelf (OTS) braces?

The CTi Custom is hand-crafted to the user’s exact leg size and shape. Photographs and measurements will be taken of the leg and a custom-sized frame manufactured. There is also the option to have custom paint jobs on the CTi Custom, varying from changing the colour to fully personalised designs. (Custom colours are an extra cost). The CTi Custom has two extra lateral arms for further stability because having the patient's exact measurements allow us to manufacture a brace with a more intimate fit and a larger contact area to the leg. The CTi OTS comes in a range of set frame sizes. The OTS can be adapted with different sizes of straps and padding which allow the user to achieve the closest possible fit. Flexible subshells allow a customised fit.

What happens if my leg shape changes?

With the CTi OTS version of the brace, there are varying thicknesses of condyle pads available. This allows the user to adapt the brace to any variations in knee width during the lifetime of the brace. The custom version is manufactured specifically to the user’s leg shape. Each CTi Custom comes with a year fit guarantee. If your leg shape changes so that the brace no longer fits we will re-measure and have a new brace made free of charge.

How do I clean my CTi?

You can remove the pads and straps to be cleaned. This should be done with mild, non-detergent soap and left to air dry. You should check the hinges for foreign objects after each use and remove anything found in the hinge. If you will be using the brace in salt water, be sure to rinse the brace and the straps with fresh water after each use to remove any salt or debris that might remain.

Do I need my braces fitted by an expert?

It is important that the brace is the correct size and is worn as intended. The CTi OTS can be purchased direct, off-the-shelf without fitting, however, we recommend getting fitted if it's your first time wearing a CTi OTS. The CTi Custom is tailor-made to your leg shape and therefore requires measuring and fitting from a qualified technician. Although the CTi OTS comes in set sizes, they are adaptable and can be customised to the individual.

Can the CTi be used in water?

Yes, all CTi braces are non-corrosive and have been designed with water sports in mind. We recommend the use of an over sleeve when participating in water sports to insure that straps will remain firmly attached in high speed falls. If you will be using the brace in salt water, be sure to rinse the brace and the straps with clean water after each use to remove any salt or debris that might remain.

I ride MX - which brace is suitable?

Both the Custom and OTS can be used for Moto Cross. You will also need to order the MX kit, which contains a Patella Cup & a set of Gear Guards to provide extra protection for you and your bike.

How can I be fitted for a brace?

If you are interested in purchasing the CTi please contact us, and we will be able to help you further.

Can I wear it over clothes?

As the function of the CTI is to control movement at the knee joint the brace is designed to worn as close to bone/skin as possible. For this reason we recommend NOT wearing it over clothes. Although not ideal, undersleeves and tights offer a thin barrier if you are feeling any chaffing or irritation from the brace on your skin. Wetsuits can also be used under the brace if needed. Simply remove the padding and place the brace directly over the wetsuit – the thickness of the wetsuit will replace the padding and the brace should still fit correctly. The condyle pads which fit on the inside of the brace hinge can be altered for thickness, allowing you to wear thin underclothes or wetsuits if they need to.

How long will the brace last?

How long the brace will last depends on how it is used and how well it is maintained. You can remove the pads and straps to be cleaned. This should be done with mild, non-detergent soap and left to air dry. You should check the hinges for foreign objects after each use and remove anything found in the hinge.

For the CTi Custom there is a limited life-time manufacturer’s guarantee on the frame and six month guarantee on the soft good. The CTi OTS brace has a two year manufacturer guarantee on the frame and a six month guarantee on the soft goods.

What is a PCL version of the brace?

For users with PCL instability, this version of the brace includes an additional thigh strap and calf plate to prevent movement of the shin backwards in relation to the thigh.
