Össur Touch Solutions incorporates prosthetic technologies and supporting services designed to ensure the best possible outcomes for people with upper limb loss or deficiency.
Our products include myoelectric prosthetic hand and prosthetic finger solutions, as well as realistic passive silicone prostheses that match the natural appearance of the wearer.
We are committed to helping prosthetists deliver the best possible prosthetic solutions for their users. We have found that optimal outcomes are achieved when prosthetists and therapists work closely together with an individual affected by upper limb loss or deficiency. That is one reason why we provide training and certification classes to prosthetists and therapists.

Benefiting Upper Limb Loss Users
At Össur, we strongly believe in a comprehensive approach to user care, and we work closely with prosthetists and therapists to help ensure the best possible outcomes for their users.
As developers of prosthetic technologies, we understand the complexity of new developments in prosthetics and are fully committed to providing prosthetists and therapists with the support they need to be able to ensure that their users achieve excellent results.
We can help you to determine whether an individual is a suitable candidate for a prosthesis such as our i-Limb and i-Digits products, or if they are better suited to a passive prosthesis like livingskin. Once you and your user have selected an appropriate prosthesis, we will be with you every step of the way to provide the training and support you need to deliver the best possible solution for that individual.

The importance of therapy
Össur strongly advocates the importance of dedicated occupational therapy to help achieve successful outcomes for users fit with its i-Limb and i-Digits products.
Achieving successful user outcomes with myoelectric upper limb prostheses can be challenging and, without the correct training, an advanced prosthesis may ultimately be rejected by the user. Advanced upper limb devices are much more complex to fit and the functional training and degree of therapy expertise required are very different to that of lower limb prostheses. To achieve the best user outcomes, prosthetists and therapists must work together with the user.
Key elements of ensuring a successful user outcome
Experienced medical and rehabilitation team management - Making certain that the prosthetist and therapist are knowledgeable and trained in upper limb fittings.
Prescribing a prosthesis to those who are appropriate candidates - Unless an upper limb user has been appropriately screened for candidacy, the outcome will be compromised.
Skilled fabrication of the prosthesis - This is critically important. A poorly fitting or badly made prosthesis will limit the user's ability to succeed with it.
Skilled occupational therapy training of the user in the use of the prosthesis - A user's success with an upper limb prosthesis will be greatly increased if they are properly trained in how to use it to achieve the tasks they undertake on a daily basis.
Comprehensive follow-up with consistent data gathering and documentation of functional needs - Analysing a user's experience with an upper limb prosthesis is the only way to truly learn what benefits it brings them.
