Geoff Nicholas’ Pro-Flex LP and Mobility Clinic Story

I loved seeing the young amputees embrace the opportunities at the recent Össur Mobility Clinic, I find it a privilege to help develop their abilities in Golf and also with their general mobility.

Sport is a great leveller and was one of the things I worried wouldn’t be available to me when I first became an amputee at a young age. Finding the courage as a teenager to get out there and give sport a go changed my life forever.

I have had the chance to show future generations of amputees how inclusive sport can be, and it has helped me with my amputation and through my career. I have been fortunate to have had many great opportunities during my career as a professional golfer, including earning the right to play on the Australasian PGA tour in 1992, competing against Greg Norman and Tiger Woods. These experiences keep me inspired to achieve more in my career and my life.

I’m currently using the Pro-Flex® LP foot which enables me to walk the course in all of my tournaments just like the able-bodied players. I am able to play 18 holes on consecutive days without fatiguing thanks to this incredible product.

The Senior Open at Royal Lytham and St. Annes.

In July 2019, Geoff qualified for the Senior Open at Royal Lytham and St. Annes. and became the first amputee to compete in a major championship against the world’s best golfers.

“A disability is only what you make of it. I just get around. I think if you start thinking disability, that's when you're in trouble. I just get around as if I haven't got it. It's there, but I always feel like disability is what you sort of make of it, and I feel when I go out and play I haven't got one.” - Geoff Nicholas, PGA Tour
