Once was not enough - Team Ossur's Marlon Shirley wins ESPY Award for second consecutive year

Marlon Shirley has become a two-time recipient of the prestigious ESPY award for Best Male Athlete with a Disability 2005. Our congratulations go to Marlon, to other Team Ossur nominees Paul Martin and Rudy Garcia Tolson, and to our friends - recipients of the Arthur Ashe Courage award, Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah and Jim Maclaren.

Rebuilding lives

This week marks the tenth anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, the single worst atrocity in Europe since the end of World War II, and part of the tragic conflict in Bosnia-Herzegovina. An estimated 5,000 people lost a limb during the conflict and, as part of a continuing effort to contribute to the rebuilding of the area, Ossur recently agreed to send a shipment of 300 new prosthetic limbs to be sent to the area. The company has also announced its participation in the humanitarian aid effort in Iraq.

JAPO meeting 16-17 July

Omiya Sonic City plays host this week to the 12th meeting of the Japanese Academy of Prosthetists and Orthotists. Around 600 Japanese professionals will be focusing on evidence-based medicine and how the collection of comprehensive data can help to inform and improve patient outcomes.
