Helping others to help themselves

Losing a limb is difficult for anyone, but picture yourself as a refugee; traumatized, homeless and fleeing from conflict. You have nowhere to turn for prosthetic care and, without artificial limbs, you have little hope of sustaining yourself or your family. Move on up!

The legendary physical therapist Bob Gailey flew into Manchester last week to work with the British Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Amputee Rehabilitation (BACPAR). Hugely successful, the national workshop sponsored by Ossur was, in Bob's words, about "a coming together of physios and prosthetists in order to give our patients more mobility and a better outcome".
