Össur Donates Prosthetics to Enable Olympic Hopeful to Walk Again

Fang Zheng lost his legs in 1989. Since then, he has become an accomplished wheelchair athlete and a champion in discus and javelin. Following his recent immigration to the U.S., Mr. Zheng and his supporters have been working to give him what he lost so many years ago – the ability to walk. Due to the assistance of doctors and other specialists, and with prosthetics donated by Össur, Mr. Zheng danced with his wife for the first time at an event in Washington, D.C. on October 7th.

Össur representatives Shane Namack and Dave McGill attended the event and were presented with an award from Mr. Zheng acknowledging Össur’s donation of a RHEO KNEE and two Ceterus feet. Numerous media outlets were present and Dave McGill eloquently stated that “Mr. Zheng’s story serves as a reminder to the nearly 2 million people in the United States and many millions more in China and around the world who live with limb loss, that amputation is not the end  your life or the closing of a door, but rather, a unique opportunity to define yourself and to redefine others’ perceptions of what’s possible.”
